This Mother's Day One Mom Is Sharing How She's Managing the Burden of Being a Sandwich Mom

If you are a mom, someone has probably warned you at one time or another not to blink because life goes by so fast. As parents, we often find ourselves trying too hard to do it all and be all for our children. We're so busy we many not even realize the kids are no longer the only ones who are getting older.
One day, you may look at your parents and realize you're now a sandwich mom and that your parents are at a point in life where they also need help. Although we want to do everything we can for them, it’s not always easy, and we often wonder how it's possible to do it all.

As members of the so-called "sandwich generation," we are stuck in the middle of raising our children but also needing to be there to help our aging parents. Millions of women face these challenges yearly, and thankfully resources are emerging to help us get through this stage of life.

FINANCE AND INVESTING TIPS FOR THE SANDWICH GENERATION

Rise of the ‘club sandwich’ parents – with three generations to support

Much has been said about Britain’s “sandwich generation” – the middle-aged parents who are financially squeezed by having to support both elderly parents and young children.

However, now there is a growing number of “club sandwich” parents – those who are having to financially help out three other generations in their families. This could include mid-lifers supporting their children and two older generations, or those who have recently retired looking after their parents, children and grandchildren.

It comes as analysis suggests that retirement savings are set to come under even more pressure in the next 10 years, as more than one million families are predicted to have at least two retired generations.

The number of families with multiple retired generations is increasing more quickly than expected. In 2018, it was predicted that by this year there would be 704,000 “club sandwich” families, but there are already 813,000 in Britain.

The survey of more than 700 parents nationwide from June 15 -- July 28, 2023 is summarized in the new report, "The Power of Positive Parenting: Evidence to Help Parents and Their Children Thrive." The data shows that

Can you afford to take care of your children and parents? Biden revives effort to lower costs

President Joe Biden is pushing proposals to help families pay for child care, preschool and elder care while he's running for reelection this year

WASHINGTON -- As President Joe Biden runs for reelection, he’s resurrecting proposals to reshape American life from the cradle to the grave by lowering the cost of child care, expanding preschool opportunities and making home aides more available to the elderly.

The initiatives were once part of Build Back Better, Biden’s gargantuan legislative agenda that stalled on Capitol Hill two years ago. Now they’re what Neera Tanden, the Democratic president's top domestic policy adviser, describes as “unfinished business.”

Although the White House has tried to advance these ideas in a piecemeal fashion through regulations and executive orders, Biden hopes to
