VERY PERSONAL— CAN YOUR MARRIAGE SURVIVE TAKING CARE OF PARENTS AND CHILDREN?
By Brian Sacks
I was born to parents who had me very late in life - they were in the mid 40s and I am an only child.
My parents tried hard but struggled financially and emotionally and at some point I became the parent.
They were also not very pleasant and my mom had no filter- whatever she thought she said whether appropriate or inapproprate.. usually not appropriate…
When I got married they weren’t exactly kind to my wife yet my wife helped me help them - physically - financially and emotionally and also helped me make sure they were receiveing the proper care thru nursing homes - assisted living and hospice for each.

HONESTLY- NOT SURE HOW SHE DID IT?
THis year we will be celebrating our 35th anniversary.. !
But not every couple is that lucky — the stress on the marriage can be so much that it breaks the marriage up.

WHO SHOULD BE YOUR PRIMARY FOCUS AND PRIORITY?
your spouse
Your parents
Your kids
YOU?
Would you please let me know your thoughts or share a story send it to [email protected] and let me know if you are ok sharing it… or you can post it in our FB Group

Wow. Paid that all off in your training. I'm impressed. We should have brought you on the Milestones podcast.

“Big blessing for us. Now, onto the question. Do you have any advice for those of us young folks caught in an early sandwich generation situation? Both my husband and I come from Asian immigrant backgrounds. Unfortunately, my in-laws are financially illiterate and retired without any plans other than relying on Social Security and expecting their children (in reality, just their eldest son) to care for them.”

“Imagine a world in which childcare was accessible and affordable, and paid leave and care was invested in. This is the vision we should all be fighting for and working to win.”
