HEALTH - Popular Vitamin Won’t Prevent Falls in Older Adults
Popular vitamin won’t prevent a fall or fracture in older adults, health panel says. Here’s what can help
Vitamin D and calcium are essential for overall health but don’t reduce the risk of falls or fractures in generally healthy older adults, according to a new draft recommendation from the US Preventive Services Task Force
When it comes to lowering this risk, the task force recommends against relying on supplemental vitamin D and calcium – and, for the first time, men are included in this guidance.
YOUR MARRIAGE
Life comes at you fast when you're in love, while you're juggling career goals, pets, babies, friends, family, and whatever else folded in to your very, very filled cup. One minute you and your spouse can't enough of each other, but then time passes and you might start to feel like you're roommates. "Ugh, what is that about," is a question I used to ask when my own relationship's spark felt like tiny embers amongst our ever-growing responsibilities. Licensed psychotherapist Lucas Saiter, LMHC, owner and director of Manhattan Therapy NYC, says, "It's crucial for couples to acknowledge periods of disconnection without judgement."
According to him, you can start "by having an open conversation about feeling disconnected" which is a "positive step" in the desired direction. But, he wants this to happen during "a calm moment" instead of "during a conflict or when there are distractions.".
FINANCE AND INVESTING TIPS FOR THE SANDWICH GENERATION
Gen X workers believe they’ll need to save $1 million to guarantee a secure retirement, yet the number they expect to accumulate is much lower.
New findings from Schroders’ 2024 U.S. Retirement Survey finds that while Gen Xers on average say they’ll need $1,069,746 in savings, the reality is that most expect to save $602,944 by the time they retire. The savings gap is the largest out of all generations, at $466,802 compared to $322,128 for Millennials and $353,069 for Baby Boomers.
Such a gap could present problems in retirement for the Sandwich Generation, said Deb Boyden, head of US Defined Contribution at Schroders. Gen X workers were among the first to witness a decline in traditional pension plans and a rise in retirement plans like 401(k)s, leaving many to secure retirement savings on their own.

CARING FOR PARENTS
About one-quarter of U.S. adults belong the sandwich generation, according to Pew Research Center. This group has to juggle caring for children and older parents all while still working.
if you are taking care of both young children and aging parents, or if you’re a working parent in addition to your caregiving responsibilities, your busy family-and-work lifestyle makes you a card-carrying member of the “sandwich generation.”
About one-quarter of U.S. adults belong to this group, according to a Pew Research Center survey conducted in October 2021. The survey shows adults in their 40s are most likely to sandwich between their children and an aging parent (at 54%). Other research shows nearly 70% of sandwich-generation adults work for pay.

Considering A Job Change In 2025? Here’s What You Need To Know
Recent Gallup data reveals that more Americans are considering a job change than at any point in the last 10 years. U.S. employees feel increasingly frustrated and detached from their work—something Gallup calls the "Great Detachment." Even more interesting, a PwC survey conducted among over 56,000 workers in 50 countries shows that 28% of respondents are likely to change companies within the next 12 months. A growing number of employees are planning a job change due to increased workloads and the desire to improve their skills. “Employee desires to job-switch will be driven by a multitude of reasons, but notably this year, two-thirds who said they are likely to switch in the next 12 months said opportunities to learn new skills are a key factor..., |
